Four proclamations were read. They recognized October as Downs Syndrome; Domestic Violence; and National Breast Cancer Awareness Months. In addition, October 20-26 was recognized as National Friends of the Library Week
Three ordinances were adopted. The sale of Township property at 7 Gifford Road to Family Promise of the Jersey Shore, which aids homeless families, was adopted. There were several favorable public comments on this. Other ordinances dealt with land use and redevelopment, as well as funding for municipal building improvements. An ordinance providing bond funding for various road and drainage improvements was presented for the first reading and introduction.
Sixteen Resolutions were passed. Numerous personnel actions involved appointments, retirements, and payments. There was an agreement with NJDOT to secure Safe Routes to School funding for sidewalk safety improvements to Nugen town Road, Gifford town Lane and   Road. A design and engineering consultant was appointed for this project. There were several shared service agreements with Ocean County. Some related to the use and revenue sharing of the County Recycling Center as well as waste composting. Others included participation in the Prosecutor’s program to identify and remove intoxicated drivers from the roadway. Tax refunds and liens were authorized as were demolition charges which also will be a lien on the property.
 The Township Engineer reported on interior improvements to the Township building, and that concrete work at the recreation complex has been completed.
During public comment a resident complained that persons parked waiting for the school bus on Radio and West Playhouse roads create a hazard for those trying to exit this intersection. The police chief will look into this.
During Committee comments there was discussion of the Florida hurricane and that there will be drastic upcoming FEMA changes. There will be a Harvest Festival at Pinelands HS on October 19th, and a Halloween Bash on October 27th. It was noted that Meals on Wheels provides meals at the Senior Center. The mayor noted that he attended a Congressional Hearing on electric bill increases. The next Senior Advisory Meeting will be at 10 AM on October 28 h at Mystic Shores Clubhouse.

Little Egg Harbor Township Committee Meeting August 8, 2024

Two proclamations recognized the “Pinelands Panthers” girls travel softball team which finished 2 nd in
the State finals and Patriot Day, September 11, a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Action on a Memorial Bench Dedication Program ordinance was postponed until the December meeting.
Three proposed ordinances were presented for first reading and introduction. One amends the
Township Code Section dealing with speed limits and two authorize sale or transfer of Township
property.
A 2024 Budget resolution was presented for public hearing and was adopted.
Eleven Resolutions were passed. Personnel actions include a retirement and a telecommunicator
appointment. A final change order was authorized for a drainage improvement project and an
application for a NJDEP loan for drainage improvements was authorized. An open public auction sale of
surplus personal property was authorized, and a contract was awarded for municipal building interior
improvements. Financial actions included authorizing a tax refund, a tax lien for property management
costs, and issuance of tax anticipation notes.
The Township Engineer reported that concrete work has begun on the Oak Lane paving project and
grant funds have been received for sidewalk and curbing on Frog Pond Road.
During public comment a resident asked if sidewalks could be provided on portions of Route 9. The
Committee agreed to look into this. The attorney explained how ordinances are developed in response
to a resident’s inquiry.
During Committee Comments several upcoming activities were noted. They include:
Senior lunch program beginning September 10 th , “Walk with the Mayor on September 14th, and Mental
Health Awareness program on September 26 th . The next Senior Advisory Meeting will be at 10 AM on September 30h at Sea Oaks. EMS Volunteers are needed.

Little Egg Harbor Township Meeting 7/11/14

There were three presentations. Two proclamations recognized National Night Out on August 6, 2024,
and August 7, 2024 as Purple Heart Recognition Day. Frog Pond Elementary School winners of the 2024
Mayor’s Essay Contest read their essays.
There were six police department appointments. Three were for promotions to the positions of Captain,
Lieutenant, and Sergeant respectively, and three were new officer appointments.
Twenty ordinances were presented for second reading and adoption. Fifteen dealt with acquisition of
permanent easements for Oak Lane sidewalk construction. Some others dealt with Township Code
provisions related to trees and storm water control. A proposed Code chapter establishing a memorial
bench dedication program generated considerable discussion and was tabled to the next meeting.
A resolution to adopt the 2024 Municipal Budget was carried to the next meeting because the Budget
has not yet received state approval. Twenty-three other resolutions were passed. Fourteen were
personnel related and dealt with such matters as: transfer, appointment, resignation, and retirement.
Others included: a request for a traffic signal at Radio Road and Country Club Boulevard, opposition to
Off Shore Wind Farms, appointment of a Community Development Director, a shared services
agreement for use of the Ocean County Law Enforcement Training Facility, property demolition charges
and related tax liens, and a Fitness Campaign Grant application.
The Township Engineer discussed sewer and drainage programs as well as road repaving work.
During public comment there was concern about the poor condition of abandoned properties. A
resident expressed the need for a chain link fence on Otis Bog Road where there was a fatal accident.
There was considerable discussion about a private social club’s compliance with Township noise
regulations, particularly the 10 PM noise curfew. The Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Committee to
encourage healthy lifestyles was discussed, including the need for Committee volunteers.
